Gratitude | Let the Wedding Planning Begin!
As many of you witnessed via Instagram, Jeremiah and I got engaged in November (2017).* Since our engagement, our lives have been a complete whirlwind - we moved into a beautiful new apartment across town, I left my job, and we've been entirely focused on growing ourselves, our relationship, and our spiritual lives.
And so we haven't done much in terms of wedding planning. In fact, we haven't really talked about our wedding at all. We both have a very general sense of our timeline, guest list, and locations (yes, that's plural), but outside of a few brief discussions, we haven't actually sat down and planned anything. We're enjoying being engaged, and I don't think either of us is tired of saying, "my fiancé/fiancée" yet.
THAT BEING SAID, a few weeks ago, Jeremiah randomly texted me, and our conversation went something like:
J: I want to get married in late Sept. 2019. Not locked into it, but I feel like my gut likes Sept. 2019.
I: That sounds perfect.
J: September 28? That's a Saturday.
I: Sounds like a dream.**
And suddenly we had a wedding date! And as soon as we had our official wedding date, my Pinterest-obsessed, romantic side kicked into overdrive. Here are the facts:
We're having two weddings. Jeremiah's family lives down south, 2.5 hours from the nearest airport, and those near and dear to his heart (grandmother, great aunts, etc.) can't travel very far. So, the week of 9/23, we'll have a small, family-and-very-close-friends only ceremony in the local Catholic church. We're hoping for something very minimal, beautiful, and sweet. Dinner and dessert at Mammaw's afterward and lots of family time. Then, that Saturday, 9/28, we'll have another ceremony in Rhode Island. We'll already be married, so it'll really be a short reading of vows + a big celebration with more friends & family. Perfect, right?
We want to keep our wedding under $10k. Preferably way under. Yet we also want it to be beautiful & a night to remember. And that means that we're fully prepared to do a lot of research, DIY some shit & have a backyard reception.
I am SO ready to marry the love of my life. Like, so ready.
